Thai Forest Scorpion (Heterometrus spinifer)

Heterometrus spinifer, commonly known as the Asian forest scorpion or giant forest scorpion, is a large, robust species native to Southeast Asia. It features a shiny black exoskeleton and powerful pincers, growing up to 15 cm (6 inches) in length. Despite its fierce appearance, its venom is mild and primarily used for subduing prey, with stings typically causing only localized pain and swelling in humans. H. spinifer prefers humid, tropical forests and is known for its burrowing and nocturnal behavior. Due to its size, hardiness, and striking look, it is a popular species in the exotic pet trade.
