Madera Forest Scorpion (Pseudouroctonus santarita)

Pseudouroctonus santarita is a small, elusive scorpion species native to the mountainous regions of southern Arizona, particularly the Santa Rita Mountains, from which it gets its name. Belonging to the family Vaejovidae, this species is typically brown to reddish-brown in color and prefers cooler, rocky habitats at higher elevations. It is nocturnal and reclusive, often hiding under stones or in crevices during the day. P. santarita has mild venom and poses little threat to humans, making it of interest mainly to researchers and dedicated scorpion enthusiasts.
